Bomb blast kills 1 in Somalia

At least one person was killed and three were wounded after a huge bomb blast was targeted at a bank in Baidoa in southern Somalia where the country's interim parliament was based.

 

Officials in the farming town said one of the bank employees was killed and three of the security guards were wounded in last night's incident which took place around 6: 45 pm local time.

 

Reporter Abduqadir Barre in the area, said government soldiers soon cordoned off the scene after the explosion, searching houses nearby.

 

Aden Biid, the commander of the Somali police force in Baidoa, said that there was an investigation going on, expressing that unknown gunmen had carried out the deadly attack.

 

"We will take hold of any one who was responsible for last night's fatal bomb explosion," he said. In a similar incident, five persons were killed and ten were wounded on Friday after unknown gunman threw a hand grenade at a small local cinema in Baidoa.

 

No group has claimed responsibility for all the incidents that happened in Baidoa
