Exclusive interview for the independent information agency Chechenews.com of chairman Denmark committee in the support of Chechnya Thomas Larsen.
- Describe, if you please, briefly about yourself?
My name is Thomas Bindesbal Larsen, my profession historian, and also, I am the leader of Danish committee in the support of Chechnya.
- How you, the representative of Danish nation is seen situation in Chechnya?
Situation in Chechnya after seven years of the beginning of current Russian - Chechen war, in my view, did not undergo substantial changes. The military actions between the russian occupation forces and participants in the resistance movement of CRI continues as before. The President of Russia V. Putin and the Kremlin marionette Ramzan Kadyrov make the unjustified statements, that the war in Chechnya ceased, and russian authorities, after taking under the complete control the media sources, actually blocked all communications from Chechnya, which be in conflict with the official policy of the Kremlin.
Meanwhile Chechnya was occupied, and is closed military ghetto. The European public does not see objective telecasts from Chechnya; also as they can't see real picture from other countries of the world community, where military conflicts continue. According to our information, each day in Chechnya occur the engagements between the Russian occupiers and the Chechen fighters for freedom. Also, do not cease sadly known entire peace punitive cleanings and, until now stand the so-called military block signal posts, where disappear ordinary peaceful Chechen citizens, whom subsequently had finded in russian concentration camps like "Chernokozovo". Russian punitive organs are pursued not only the participants of the resistance movement of CRI, but also the citizens, wherever they not were located, at they house, on the work, in the school or at the university. Situation in the field of public health and ecology remains catastrophic. The mass cases of poisonings of Chechen schoolboys are known.
As our sources in Chechnya transmitted, unprecedented sizes reached a quantity of Chechen citizens patient with cancer and tuberculosis. By Russian occupiers are cut down the most valuable species of beech forests, which are exported abroad of Chechnya. Ceaseless shelling and aviation bombardments of the mountain regions of Chechnya caused enormous loss to local ecology. All these facts are very anxious, which are for some reason quieted by international organizations. Concerning russian statements, that Russian - Chechnya war was ended, arises a reasonable question, why then they here hold the minimum of 80000 thousand occupation forces, without considering MVD, OMON and other different kadyrov's punitive structures. If Russia does not have comprehensible answer to this question, that mean they are necessary there for continuing the anti-liberation war against the Chechens.
It is known in Chechnya, in 1997, in the presence of the representatives of OSCE and CE were carry out the free democratic election, as a result of which were selected the President and parliament CRI, which for Danish citizens remain legitimate for these time. Therefore, we categorically do not recognize the so-called elections, carry out in the territories of occupied Chechnya, as a result of which russian marionettes like Kadyrov or Alkhanov arrived at the authority. It is known that practically all international organizations of world consider illegitimate these pseudo-elections. The next elections in the territory of Chechnya can be if and only if war will end, and Chechen citizens will have the capability to make free choice.
- Describe the history of creation the Danish committee in the support of Chechnya and it's activity?
Since the beginning of the first Russian - Chechen war at 1994-96 yr, me and my adherents posed a problem of help to Chechen people. For this purpose Danish committee in the support of Chechnya was organized, where the representatives of Danish people entered, including here both the politicians, writers, journalists, attorneys, jurists and many ordinary citizens of Denmark, by whom was significant the tragic fate of Chechen people. Professors Karl Erik Foverskov, Khelen Krag - Caucasus specialist, well-known Danish woman journalist Vibeke Sperling, the member of the Denmark parliament Holger Nielsen and many others, being the members of committee, with the extent of their forces and possibilities help Chechen people so that they could attain the freedom and the independence. Also, we try to help the members of legitimate government CRI, which was elected on the free, democratic elections during January 1997.
- Describe, if you please that you do know about the deportation of the Chechen people on 23 February, 1944?
I specialized in the Soviet history and respectively had a possibility to read different literature. I was in the shock, when before my eyes appeared the historical sources, which testify about the terrible tragedy of Chechen people in the years of the deportation 1944-56 yr. Atrocities, which made by troops of NKVD with respect to Chechen people, it cannot be named otherwise as physical, spiritual and moral genocide of entire nation. It was very difficult for me to read these books, dedicated to the tragic events of February of 1944. I read Svetlana Aliyeva's book "Kak eto bylo", who in detail tells about the innumerable sufferings those fallen in Chechens during the years of the forced departation into Kazakhstan and Siberia. From our side, through web source Tjetjenien.dk we try to bring to Danish community truth about the physical deportation of Chechen people. This is improbable the historical crime, when entire nation was so is sternly punished by the Soviet regime. It is gratifying that the European Parliament did not remain indifferent of the deportation of 1944, after accepting the resolution, which named the actions of russian authorities with respect to Chechen people genocide. We must never forget this terrible crime against humanity. We must require from russian president Putin to recognize these crimes and to apologized to Chechen people for this. So it is very important today in every possible way contribute to the peaceful, political settlement of Russian - Chechen military conflict.
We know that the very difficult fate was reached to Chechen people for a period of many centuries to carry on the unequal armed struggle for freedom and independence. At the same time, the majority of Danes do not doubt the fact that the Chechens will attain freedom and independence. Therefore appeared through your agency to my numerous Chechen friends, I indicate that I know the the very important word of Chechen people "Marsho!!!"
- thanks for the interesting interview.
