Detention and Inhuman torture by the ULFA militants and AF in Assam

Publication time: 7 February 2007, 18:00

The more you hear about them, the more you get terrirified. Whereas you are to feel safe at their hands. No they are inhuman,  fighting a battle against whom , they dont know. These are the armed forces of the world. I don't want to generalize all of them, but in fact as far as I see and I understand they fall into the same category. I am a victim of these people too.

We hear a lot about their valiant heroic tales, about their daring attitudes. But do we know reall and in exact sense as to who they are.  What are they fighting for? And what will be their glory? A lot of people join the Armed Forces so as to safeguard the interests of their people. But do not realize as to whether they are really safeguarding their people or abusing the rights of the others.

Man has been divided into a number of tribes, communities. Different languages, different cultures, diversified and settled in every nook and corner of the world by the All Powerful, The All Merciful The Almighty Allah. But still most of the people do not realize the importance of life in this world and the sacredness of performing its duty.

In a small town in Assam "Dhekiajuli" , a family comprising of Father, Mother and 2 brothers were living a normal happy life. Starting  their daily lives with prayers and supplications to Allah during Fajr prayers. And then following the course of the day. Things were going on for this family. By the grace of Allah, their needs were met with glory and praise to Allah.

During the month of March, there were number of operations carried out by the Indian Armed Forces. The Indian Army was searching for ULFA militants who were creating havoc and panic among the local people. But they failed to realize that using force, nothing can be subdued.

One night some guys came knocking at our door. My father got up, it was around 1am at night. Me and my brother got up too, although we were still on the bed. They started shouting from outside to open the door. My father got afraid as he thought them to be robbers. I saw his grim face turning red.

He opened the door of the kitchen trying to call for help from neighbors. But at that point a gunman came telling "Open the door or I will shoot". My father nor my mother could realize as to what was happening. We realized that they were from the Indian Army. We opened the front door, an Army officer probably a Major came in.

He was stunned a bit in the first moments, and asked forgiveness to my father. He told that they were on a mission trying to catch an ULFA militant, and they received wrong information that he was in our house. He shook hands with my father and left together with his soldiers.

This is just one of the incidents of the abuse and the way they inflict pain into the minds of common general local people. They don't have any mission in reality in their lives. Actually there system of finding terrorists and gunning them down is a wicked way where a lot of innocent civilians also lose their lives.

Until these people realize the importance of their lives in this world, and until and unless they come to the family of Islam, they are wandering hopelessly in darkness.

A real incident by one of our brothers in Assam, where everyday incidents of killing by militants or inhuman torture and abuse by the Armed Forces are going on.
